Colour: deep ruby red with typical purple hues.
Nose: sweet, complex, fruity, wide with scent of strawberries, vanilla, coffee beans and cacao. Interesting ripe barbera grape aroma recognizable from the typical violet scent.
Palate: rich of ripe fruit flavours, velvety, with special taste of spices, harmonic and very well-balanced with a pleasantly great elegant finish. Mora di Sassi is a full bodied wine, impressive with a great balance between the concentrated fruit and the alcoholic warmness.
Serving temperature: 16-18 ° C.
Cellaring: 10 years.

The name Mora di Sassi comes from a containment wall made of stones (sassi), now used as a place name. The vineyard is ideally situated in Nizza Monferrato at 250 m. above sea level, in the heart of Nizza doc area the most restrictive appellation for the Barbera d’Asti. Looking south, it extends on 3,5 ha. The vineyard is 25 years old, with 4700 plants per ha. and the growing system is a traditional Guyot. The soil is mostly calcareous and clayey. The yield in the area of the vineyard dedicated to the Mora di Sassi doesn’t exceed 60 q. of grape per hectare. The 2003 vintage was a very healthy grapes vintage, low acidity and interesting sugar content.
