Winemaker’s Notes:
Colour: deep ruby red with typical violet hues.
Nose: amazing, complex, wide with scent of red-berries, vanilla, coffee beans and cacao. Interesting ripe barbera grape aroma.
Palate: multifaceted, dry, velvety, harmonic, full bodied and very well-balanced with a special great spiced finish. Smoothly with delightful taste of ripe grapes and small red fruits. Gaiana is very rich in mineral salts and the flavours is supported by this particular richness.
Serving temperature: 16-18 ° C.
Cellaring: 8-10 years.
General Information:
Gaiana vineyard is located in Mombaruzzo, on the right side of Belbo river, at 150 m. above sea level. Ideally situated in terms of sun exposure and blessed with a perfect micro-climate, it extends on 15 ha. The vineyard is 27 years old, with about 4800 plants per hectare and the growing system is a Guyot traditional system. The soil is calcareous and clayey. The 2003 vintage offer us very healthy grapes with low acidity and interesting sugar content.
General Information…
Best seller and one of Malgrà’s most exciting developments, Gaiana is different thanks the power of the grape flavour and the special richness in mineral salts. These characters are magically blended by the barrique refining for 12 months. The result is an Italian style, full bodied, warm barbera coming from the richness of the cru and the ageing harmony.
